Music & Movement

Music

Music plays an important role in the development of a child's growth. It stimulates the brain, relieves stress, and enhances social skills.

Music is a form of communication between tribes. Tribes communicate with ease with the help of sticks and stones to create a series of rhythm and tune.

We at Trio, believe in and encourage students to explore their potential in all domains of music - vocal and instrument. TWS offers a multitude of learning options in instrumental music - Guitar, Tabla, and Keyboard. Indian classical and Western Classical music is also a part of the curriculum.

Through music, students get an opportunity to:

  • Improve their vocal cords and vocal quality - exercises and 'Alankarika Swaras' of Indian classical music is practiced.
  • Enhance their musical knowledge, pitch, and rhythm skills.
  • Understand the different classical Ragas along with tala (Beats and rhythms).
  • Learn different kinds of songs like devotional, patriotic, light music, folk music, and classical music.
  • Sharpen their listening skills by exposure to different kinds of music in class.
  • Musical activities like Antakshari, solo singing, group singing and speaking about their favourite instruments.

Apart from these, we involve students in special activities like:

  • Favourite song week
  • Tabla class
  • Special assemblies
  • Vocal and Instrumental competitions

Western Music

Western music refers to the musical tradition that has developed in Western cultures, primarily in Europe and its diaspora, over the course of centuries. It encompasses a wide range of musical styles, genres, and forms that have evolved and adapted through different historical periods and cultural influences.

Trio World School imparts western music through learning English songs vocally or to play instruments to western melodies. Guitar or the keyboard are used to teach western songs. Songs are adapted and reimagined to a level where children can sing and enjoy the song.

Students in the Western Music Class get to take their time off from studying, by relaxing and unwinding while learning music and taking part in related activities and games.

  • Learn music as a new language where we talk to each other with actions, sound, and voices.
  • Music is taught by breaking down different parts like singing in tune, keeping tempo (rhythm) and understanding theory behind the songs on how they are written or constructed.
  • Singing with confidence and without stage fear by helping students to give their best at what they do.
  • Music theory as per the classes or levels where students can understand how music is written.

Competitions

We conduct and participate in intra-school and inter-school talent shows and assessment besides smaller competitions in the classrooms.

We at TWS prides itself in winning the inter-school music and singing events held at the NCFE school, by winning in all categories and the best school performance award.

Dance

Dance is art in motion. It helps in coordination, strength, quickness, and agility.

Dance classes are structured and planned with the balance of both fun and learning. At the end of the year the students will be able to memorise complex exercises, theoretical and practical importance of dance sequences and gain a deeper foundation of musical and technical interpretation.

Our classes incorporate:

  • Various rhythmic pattern movements which encourage coordination, fine and gross motor skills.
  • Dance curriculum which covers different dance forms (Folk, Western and Classical). The dance form and difficulty level of technical steps will be planned according to age group.
  • Theory classes, to help students to gain knowledge on cultural and traditional roots of dance, its origin and specialty with the help of storytelling, pictures, charts and presentations.
  • Competitions and activities like Dance workshops, Impromptu sessions - On spot dancing, Group choreography and quiz to name a few to enhance confidence.
  • Individual corrections, feedback, guidance, and assessment on regular basis.

Zumba

Zumba as an activity is fun and effective.

  • It includes interval training combining fast and slow rhythms for an effective aerobic workout while targeting overall fitness, flexibility, and endurance.
  • The workout has a watch and follow format. The movements are repeated often enough for students to catch on and they are not complicated.
  • The routines are repeated week after week with the addition of new ones.
  • Difficulty level of the routine is planned according to the age group of the students.
  • Warm up exercises are taught in order to avoid injuries and to increase strength and stamina.
